China is one of the most interesting countries for nature photography, and it hold incredible wildlife unseen anywhere else on Earth. In this week-long photographic journey we will set our aims on finding and shooting the most elusive big cat: the snow leopard. Based in the high-altitude Tibetan Plateau, we will venture to rarely-visited locations and rugged terrains in search of this shy, beautiful creature. Tibetan foxes and other mammal and bird species will also make good photographic subjects in this unique trip.
Main Features
- A week-long journey traversing the high-altitude Tibetan Plateau, shooting some of the rarest and most elusive mammal species, namely the snow leopard and Tibetan fox.
- Small group size (5 photographers max) guarantees unparalelled personal attention and comfort during the wildlife shoots, and comprehensive critique sessions. Absolutely no waiting for other cars to shoot the leopards!
- Private 4X4 transfers.
- Winter schedule ensures a good chance of snow. March is statistically a very good month to view the snow leopard.
- Professional photo guidance by local photography guides and wildlife trackers with decades of experience.
- Daily critique sessions to hone your skills and perfect your shooting.

Day 1 Meeting in Xining
Upon landing in Xining Airport (XNN), we will be picked up and transferred to our hotel in the town of Xiangride (a 6hr drive), where we will have an introductory dinner and discuss the plan for the days ahead.
Days 2-6 Dulan Reserve: The Search for the Snow Leopard
We will spend the next 5 full days tracking the snow leopard, making the maximal effort to view and shoot it in the best way possible. There's a very high chance of seeing the leopard, and we hope to be in a position to not just see it, but shoot it, and shoot it well.

While the snow leopard is our highest priority, other beautiful mammal species are very likely to be crossing our paths, which we will take advantage of. Some of the species we'll see are Tibetan fox, wolf, lynx, blue sheep, and red deer. Palas's cats also roam the plateau and we might just get lucky enough to see them as well.

Day 7 Departure
In the morning of day 7 we will drive back to Xining Airport, from where you will take your flight home. If you're joining us on part 2 of the workshop, we will fly together to Chengdu, have dinner and spend the night, before flying to Lijiang the next day.

Single Room Supplement: €600
